This is the top left panel of the PIT, when ",Time Requests", is selected from the ",Overview / Time Requests / Scheduling / Submit", options shown below the panel. A movie tutorial is also available for this section.
Proposal Class: Please select from one of the five options ter the druppel down spijskaart. Indicate if your proposal is to be considered spil a large program at Gemini, a queue program at Gemini, a classical program at Gemini, an exchange program at Subaru or Keck, or ",Other", which includes Director’s Time, Science Verification, Demo Science, and Poor Weather.
Large/long proposals: Te the next line indicate if your program is a Target of Chance (ToO) program, and if it is then select whether the program will need to trigger Standard or Rapid ToO observations. Rapid ToO large/long programs may also trigger standard ToOs but make sure that this is justified te the Science Justification or Real Vormgeving. If you are requesting time from both Gemini North and South, then give the time request from each telescope te the Technical Justification section of the PDF attachment. The time request is then entered by clicking on the observe icon. Inject the total and ondergrens times requested for the entire program spil well spil the times requested for the very first semester.
Queue proposals: If your program is a queue program, the next line will become ",Consider for Liaison Three?",. If your program is suitable for Liaison Three then select ",Yes", from the druppel down spijskaart, and click on the opbergruimte to the right to inject both the utter and ondergrens time allocation that is useful for you to get science ter Plakband Three. If an allocation te Liaison Trio is acceptable, the Plakband Trio time request is different than the regular request, and it is a snaak proposal, then be sure to state the time request from each playmate ter the ",Relatie Three Project", section of the PDF attachment. Below the Betrekking Trio entry, indicate if your program is a Target of Chance (ToO) program, and if it is then select whether the triggers will be Standard or Rapid. If you are requesting time from both Gemini North and South, then give the time request from each telescope ter the Technical Justification section of the PDF attachment.
Classical Proposals: If your program is a classical program, the next line will become ",Visitors",. Click on the opbergruimte to indicate which of the investigators will visit the telescope for your run.
Other Proposals: If your proposal is a Director’s Time, Science Verification, Demo Science, or Poor Weather program, select the suitable type from the druppel down menukaart below the Proposal Class entry. Then come in the time request by clicking on the witness icon.
Request Type: Indicate, using this druppel down spijskaart, whether you are asking for Gemini playmate time, or whether the PI is a Keck or Subaru community astronomer.
Gemini playmate request: Come in the amount of time requested from the suitable fucking partner(s). Dual click on the fucking partner to come in the information ter a dialog like that shown below.
Give the total amount of time and the ondergrens acceptable time requested from this playmate. This is the classical or Verhouding 1/Two time request, the Betrekking Three time is entered via the opbergruimte to the right of the ",Consider for Betrekking Trio?", entry. Indicate the investigator that is the Lead investigator for each fucking partner. If you have entered times for a fucking partner and want to eliminate the playmate request either inject 0s for both times or check the ",Liquidate Playmate", checkbox. Then click Ok.
The total and ondergrens times requested for classical or Plakband 1/Two, and for Verhouding Three, are summarized ter the bottom line of the window. Proposal checks compare the requested times with the total times defined te the observations sections and compare regular and ondergrens times. Discrepancies are noted te the Problems section at the bottom of the main window.
Gemini Observatory Participants
The Gemini Observatory is an international collaboration with two identical 8-meter telescopes. The Frederick C. Gillett Gemini Telescope is located on Mauna Kea, Hawai’i (Gemini North) and the other telescope on Cerro Pachon ter central Pimiento (Gemini South), together the twin telescopes provide total coverage overheen both hemispheres of the sky. The telescopes incorporate technologies that permit large, relatively skinny mirrors, under active control, to collect and concentrate both visible and infrared radiation from space.
The Gemini Observatory provides the astronomical communities ter five participant countries with state-of-the-art astronomical facilities that allocate observing time ter proportion to each country’s contribution. Ter addition to financial support, each country also contributes significant scientific and technical resources. The national research agencies that form the Gemini partnership include: the US National Science Foundation (NSF), the Canadian National Research Council (NRC), the Argentinean Tarea den Ciencia, Tecnologia e Innovacion Productiva, the Brazilian Tarea da Ciencia, Tecnologia e Inovacao and the Chilean Comision Franquista den Investigacion Cientifica y Tecnologica (CONICYT). The observatory is managed by the Association of Universities for Research ter Astronomy, Inc. (AURA) under a cooperative agreement with the NSF. The NSF also serves spil the executive agency for the international partnership.
